The Goddard School Named a Top Recession-Proof Business for 2023 by Franchise Business Review

Independent research data shows franchisees are highly satisfied with investment in the early childhood education franchise

The Goddard School was recently named a top franchise by Franchise Business Review (FBR) in its report on the Top Recession-Proof Franchises for 2023. This recognition follows Goddard's inclusion in FBR’s 2023 Top 200 Franchises (FBR 200), in which the premier early childhood education provider was recognized as one the best franchise opportunities based on ratings and reviews provided directly by franchise owners.

FBR provides the only rankings of franchises based solely on actual franchisee satisfaction and performance. More than 36,000 franchisees representing over 365 franchise brands participated in FBR's franchisee satisfaction survey over 18 months. From the research, The Goddard School was one of just 100 franchise brands to be identified as a Top Recession-Proof Franchise award winner.

"Being included in the FBR 200 earlier this year, and now being recognized as a Top Recession-Proof Franchise, are particularly rewarding honors, as they are a direct vote of trust and confidence from the foundation of our brand — our franchisees," said Dennis Maple, chairman and CEO of Goddard Systems, LLC. "Through both good and challenging times, Goddard's proven franchise model supports franchisees with best-in-class operating standards, marketing and training, innovative educational programing and more, and this most recent accolade is a further testament to our commitment to franchisees and their businesses."

The Goddard School franchisees were surveyed on 33 benchmark questions about their experience and satisfaction regarding critical areas of their franchise systems, including training and support, operations, franchisor/franchisee relations, culture and financial opportunity. In the FBR 200, The Goddard School scored highest for its core values, financial opportunity it affords franchisees and general franchise satisfaction.

"While no business is 100% recession-proof, these franchise businesses have demonstrated that they are highly recession-resistant based on historical performance," said Eric Stites, CEO of Franchise Business Review. "For people seeking to be their own boss, the Top 100 Recession-Proof businesses we identified this year not only have outstanding satisfaction among their owners—one of the most important factors to consider before investing in any franchise opportunity—but they have performed well in good times and bad and we feel they hold a strong advantage to outperform their competitors in the years ahead."

Inclusion in the FBR 200 and subsequent Top Recession-Proof Franchises list come on the heels of a history-making era for Goddard, highlighted by the opening of its 600th location. Further recent accolades that underscore the strength of the Goddard brand and the opportunity it affords franchisees include being ranked #94—the highest-ranking childcare provider—in the 2022 Franchise Times Top 500, being ranked #60 in Entrepreneur's 2023 Franchise 500 and induction into the outlet's Hall of Fame, as well as an industry-leading 2022 FUND® Score.
